Kirkland Kitchen and Dining Addition
From 1970s Galley to Luxury Entertainer’s Kitchen
This Kirkland kitchen renovation began with a clear vision: transform a cramped 1970s galley kitchen into a spacious, high-end culinary space designed for modern living. The homeowners had three priorities: more space, better functionality, and elevated finishes.
To gain the square footage needed, the southwest exterior wall was removed, and a carefully planned addition expanded the footprint, along with a small adjacent patio. The western partial wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed, creating a more open, connected floor plan.
The new design layers timeless finishes with warmth and performance. White Belmont shaker cabinetry pairs with PentalQuartz® Zion countertops, balanced by rich chestnut bamboo flooring that runs throughout the space. Lighting played a central role in the transformation, with recessed 6-inch can lights, statement pendants above the island, and warm LED under-cabinet lighting creating a kitchen that feels both inviting and highly functional.
The addition also made room for two meaningful upgrades: a full laundry room connected to the kitchen and a spacious walk-in pantry with built-in storage and a frosted glass door etched with “Pantry.” High-performance appliances, including a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Wolf range, pot filler, and a 30-inch apron-front farmhouse sink, complete the chef-ready environment.
Despite constraints from mature trees, tight property lines, and budget considerations, the result is a thoughtfully expanded kitchen that delivers the space, luxury, and everyday performance the homeowners had long envisioned.
